Changing and Challenging Our World

how we do church

Worship

Our greatest desire is to know God intimately. Worship is simply verbalizing our gratefulness to Him. It’s admitting our need for Him and expressing our desire to know him more deeply. When this happens we experience God’s presence, which transforms us into the image and character of Jesus.

Teaching

God said that, “Those who seek Me will find Me if they seek Me with all their heart” – this doesn’t require a priest or having a seminary degree. God grants wisdom and understanding to anyone who earnestly desires to understand His Word. One of the primary methods we use to accomplish this (through our educated and credentialed teachers) is expository teaching (for more explanation and examples, see our Messages page).

Community

We believe that committing and obligating yourself to a community of faith is necessary in order to become a maturing follower of Christ. True intimacy with God is discovered when we pursue him in the company of others! We encourage this kind of community through Life Groups – bi-monthly small groups that meet in homes to fellowship, discuss scripture, pray, have fun and serve others together.

Missions

Jesus said, “It is better to give than receive.” This means that if we attempt to make our lives about our own happiness, comfort and desires—we will become unhappy and be left empty. On the other hand, if we seek to serve others – especially the poor – we will find a life that is truly more abundant and fulfilling than we could have ever dreamed! In order to accomplish this, Gateway is committed to finding practical ways to directly serve the community of West Chester. We also serve the inner city of Cincinnati by partnering with our sister church, Central Assembly of God in Over the Rhine. Internationally, we are currently working with Central Assembly of God in Djibo, Burkina Faso – providing support financially and through mission trips.
